So, if you're wondering how to get your "Showtime-style" signs to have a corner cut off, here's how!

First, you'll need to have your sign completed. I WILL NOT be teaching you how to make one in this tutorial. Here is my sign:

(Right click and select "View Image" and the full image will come up)

Next, go to Layers > New Raster Layer:


Now fill that new layer with black (#000000) and your layer pallete should look like this:


Click on the Eraser Tool (or hit the "X" key on your keyboard) and match your settings to mine:


Zoom out of your picture to about 30% (or until you can see the eraser tool's outline), kind of like this:


Match up your eraser tool to so that the corner you want cut off IS NOT covered by it (like the image above) and once it is click your mouse. It should look like this:

Your current layer pallete should look like this:


Now, go to Layers > Merge > Merge All (flatten):


Go to your toolbar and get this tool (it's the background eraser tool) and match your settings to mine:


With the tool, go to your sign and start clicking on the BLACK PART ONLY, it should look something like this:

Your sign should look like this now that you've erased all of the black part:

Now make a new layer and move it UNDER the layer that your sign is on (to move it just click and drag):


Fill that new layer with a color from your sign. I'll be using the lighter green and then make a new layer (leave that newest layer blank, though). Your layer pallete should look like this:

And your sign should look something like this:

(Right click and select "View Image" and the full image will come up)

On the newest layer you made (it should still be blank), get the brush you want to use and a color to start out with. I'm going to use diamonds. Just start stamping them in places, LIKE THIS. Once it's filled up, drop shadow the layer that your sign is on, add your text and add a border. Your finished product should look something like this:
